Abundant Aliveness
by Julia Mallory
Hold up the sky, star
Where you get your heart from
How you stretch so far
In a world so narrow
You own this lane
Of difference
Cruising caravan
To the tune of the blues
Sadness is a slippery affair
Layered behind your daddy's eyes
The pair you share
And the ones you command
Couldn't hide if you tried
Yet, you do not owe us lessons
Or weary warnings
You be a miracle unto yourself
The light trails travel
Tunnels to store a little beauty
For a rainy day
And let's be real
Like everything you are:
When isn't it raining?
